Urgent Call to Prioritize Transitional Justice in Syria

The Diakonia International Humanitarian Law Centre has issued an urgent statement emphasizing the importance of adherence to international law, the advancement of transitional justice, and the establishment of a legal framework based on the rule of law in Syria. In the statement, the Centre emphasized the need for Syria to revise national legislation to incorporate the definitions of international crimes, ensuring that individuals can be prosecuted for acts that constitute serious violations under international law.

أصدر مركز دياكونيا للقانون الدولي الإنساني نداء عاجل يؤكد فيه على أهمية الالتزام بالقانون الدولي، وتعزيز العدالة الانتقالية، ووضع إطار قانوني قائم على سيادة القانون في سوريا. وأكد المركز في بيانه على ضرورة قيام سوريا بمراجعة تشريعاتها الوطنية لتضمين تعريفات الجرائم الدولية، بما يضمن محاكمة الأفراد على أفعال تشكل جرائم جنائية بموجب القانون الدولي.
