A full list of legal updates is available here. All materials relevant to the 2023-2024 hostilities in Israel and Gaza are available on this page.
Since October 2024, the Israeli military has been carrying out renewed ground attacks in North Gaza. Large parts of the governorate have been put under siege and cut off from essential resources and humanitarian relief operations. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced under catastrophic conditions with nowhere safe to go, and devastated hospitals have once again come under attack.
This update provides an assessment of the situation in North Gaza pursuant to the law of occupation and the law of siege warfare, concluding that Israel’s conduct is unlawful and triggers the obligations of third States to bring violations of international law to an end and to ensure accountability.
